You have a First Amendment right to record police activities, provide you are not physically interfering with them, so it would be unlawful for them to arrest you and you could make big bucks in a civil rights suit against them if they did.

It would not be a legal arrest for the police to arrest a person for only videotaping the police in a public area. However, if your videotaping interferes with the officers duty you could be arrested for that.

No, but what usually happens is once they see you video-taping them, they will come up with something to arrest you for (ie. resisting arrest).

No, we have First Amendment protection to do so unless it "interferes with police business", which is generally not a big deal.
