Should I hire a lawyer for a drunk in public charge?

I was arrested and detained for being drunk in public. Is this charge really that serious? Will a lawyer be able to keep it off of my record? Thank you.

You have a better chance of preventing a conviction with a skilled trial attorney. No, this misdemeanor charge is not serious in the criminal defense world. Potential employers may think otherwise.
