What should I do if I am being accused of child abuse?

In regards to an ongoing investigation of child abuse, I need legal advice from an attorney regarding my child abuse case which is completely unjustified. I am determined to settle this unfair matter but haven't had any legal help so far. Any advice you can give me could help, please. Thank you.

If you are accused of any crime and especially one involving a child the first thing to do is not talk to anyone about the case or incident involved! The second is to consult with attorneys until you find the one that you want to handle your case. From that point on follow his instructions. Do this and you will get the best result for you that is possible.

As you say, you need the advice of an experienced attorney. I would recommend a criminal law specialist in your immediate area with whom you feel comfortable. He or she can investigate the matter on your behalf and be your conduit and advisor if you are contacted by the authorities.

Get a lawyer, QUICK. This is one of the most serious charges and the cops tend to believe the "victim" without seriously questioningthe child. Do NOT talk to the cops without a lawyer.

Not to be rude, but either open the telephone book (online or traditional) or do a "google" or other search engine search for a dependency / criminal defense attorney in your area or ask the court to appoint one. This is not the type of case to sit around with your hands in your pockets. Unless you do something to obtain legal assistance, you will not get it. If you have previously told the court that you are going to represent yourself, schedule a court appearance and say you are in over your head and need counsel.
